In today’s fast-paced environment, organizations need Business Analysts who do more than document — they need professionals who create clarity, influence decisions, and deliver measurable value. Business Analysts play a critical role in bridging business needs and technology solutions. But what differentiates a competent BA from one who consistently drives meaningful business impact? Many of us have experienced projects where we captured every requirement, held every meeting, and delivered everything that was asked — yet the outcome still missed the mark. That gap between “delivered” and “successful” is where exceptional BAs operate.

This session explores the mindset and habits that distinguish exceptional Business Analysts from the rest. Together, we’ll talk about the real challenges BAs face every day — unclear requirements, shifting priorities, difficult stakeholders, tight timelines — and how high-impact BAs navigate them differently. This is not about adding more to your workload; it’s about elevating how you approach the work you already do. You’ll walk away with practical insights and relatable strategies that can immediately strengthen your influence, confidence, and credibility within your projects and teams.

In this session, we hope you will take away:

A Business Analyst is a Person!
Business Analytics is a Process!
How to Use your Strengths and Personality Wisely!
If this fits in your quest to be a better BA and/or your quest for Certification!

Let's Get To Know Our Speaker:

After earning a degree in Psychology, Charlene Johnson began her professional career as a Developer with BCBS of Alabama. At the time, candidates who demonstrated strong analytical aptitude through a logic assessment were selected for training in JCL and COBOL—an opportunity that launched her into the technology field and established a strong foundation in systems thinking and problem-solving.

She later stepped away from her career for several years to serve in ministry across multiple states while raising her young children. This season strengthened her leadership, adaptability, and organizational skills—qualities that would continue to shape her professional journey.  Charlene resumed her career with ProAssurance in Birmingham, where she supported the Risk Department by analyzing complex datasets and developing Crystal Reports to inform business decisions. Over several years, she played a key role in conducting gap analysis for multiple acquisitions, helping ensure smooth integration and operational alignment. She subsequently served as an Operations Specialist during the implementation of a CRM system, contributing to process improvement and cross-functional coordination efforts.  Charlene joined ALFA as a Project Analyst and became a member of the inaugural Business Analyst team in 2016.

Through Charlene's leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to excellence, she was later promoted to Supervisor of the Business Analyst team. In her current role, she is dedicated to strengthening the BA practice, fostering professional growth, and driving meaningful business outcomes.  She most values the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional colleagues, contribute to the stability and success of a strong organization, deliver meaningful value to Alfa and its customers each day, and support Business Analysts as they grow and excel in their profession.
