Dynamic Leadership Vignettes - "Evolving BA to Strategic Role"
Presented by: Jaleann M. McClurg, MPH, LSSB, CSPO, CSM  Www.linkedin.com/in/jaleannhiei

Legitimately, businesses want to change but unfortunately they don't know HOW given volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) of projects. As a change agent and key resource, the BA aligns strategy with execution; to that effect the "BA Lens" first issue, in Nov 2015, stated: "Business leaders need to recognize that BAs form an essential part of their human capital". As leaders, BAs can evolve to strategic leaders while navigating change; this notion is well developed in two full volumes of "Business Analysis Essential Library" authored by Kitty Hass, PMP.  "BA Lens" also stated that BA as strategist has two key dimensions: 1) a driver to move organization initiatives forward and 2) to help executives understand complex problems and recommend possible solutions. Both visions for strategic BA require leadership and stakeholder management skills to dispel myth on what do BAs really do and push forward the maturity of BA practice at organizations who are wanting to drift away from the vicious cycle of building out SDLC solutions or adopting COTS with expectation of custom design that become houses with termites overtime.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define Strategic BA Role
  2. Common BA Misconceptions
  3. Learn 7 Tips to Navigate the Business Tranformation Landscape Through Influence
  4. Draw Insights into BA Practice Research Maturity and Link Them to BA Leadership
  5. Demonstrate Pocket-Model for Stakeholder Management
  6. Professional Journey to Becoming Strategic BA
